Ce livre d'un exceptionnel intérêt a été traduit en français, sous le titre "L'Acteur et la cible", par Valérie Latour Burney pour les Editions de l'Entretemps (dans la belle et incontournable collection "Les voies de l'acteur"). A mon avis, cette traduction, parfois quelque peu négligente, mériterait d'être revue, et il est préférable de prendre connaissance du texte dans sa langue originale. Les vues de Declan Donnellan offrent à toute réflexion sur le travail de l'acteur des propositions passionnantes et elles me paraissent extrêmement productives. Elles conduisent, si on s'en inspire, à un style d'interprétation constamment dynamique, susceptible d'éclairer d'une lumière très neuve même les classiques les plus fréquentés, dont Donnellan a d'ailleurs proposé des mises en scène très fortes (notamment un mémorable "Cid").
