Died.] At Bristol, William James Roberts efq of a confumption, aged 21. The progress of his difcale was accelerated by clofe application to a fedentary employment, and by too fevere a purfuit of literary improvement. Evincing at an early age fine poetical talents, the cultivation of thefe was the delight of his tranfient life, and his folâce from the fatigues of a laborious profeflion. His Poems difpiay an elegance and playfulness of fancy, with great, boldnels of imagination. A volume of these wil fhortly be publish ed. His brief period of earthly existence, was marked by no deviations from rectitude, no neglect of moral or focial duties. Pale and folitary, by the midnight lamp, he nurfed the hope of future fame: and when parting from a world whose charms had not yet palled. upon his enjoyment, the feelings of nature, and the vanity or earthly hope, mingled with his reflections; and his last prayer to Heaven was for religuation.

Died.] At Exeter, Mr. E. A. Ezekiel, engraver and jeweller. As an engraver he poffeffed a very correct tafte, and his performances were defervedly admired.-Richard jenkins, efq. an alderman of the corporation; an active and useful magiftrate, and indefatigable in his attention to the poor.-Mr. Tho. Wilcox.

At his feat at Pound, near Tavistock, aged 80, John Lloyd, efq. late Clerk of the Cheque of his Majesty's Dock-yard, Plymouth, and one of the justices of the peace for the county of Devon: a gentleman, in whom the active and palive virtues were fo equally and harmoniously blended as to, leave a doubt, which prevailed, but which jointly contemplated, threw a luftre on each other, and furined a character at once refpectable and amiable. In him a gentleness of manners, and fuavity of difpofition, tempered the ftrictoefs and feverity of office, and rendered all those, who, as far as the nature of his employment extended, came under his authority, orderly and obedient to government, and attached to his perfon. Thus eminent in his public ftation, he was no lefs diftinguished in his private capacity. To thefe ufeful and engaging recommendations, by which a certain though, his long fervices taken into the account, a very numerous) body of men were priacipally affected and benefited, ought to be added thofe, which conftitute the other part of his interesting character. The fincerity of the christian, the uprightness of the magiftrate, the integrity of the moral, and bounty of the charitable man, the equity and genefity of the landlord, are qualities that de

ferve to be recorded by the community at large; while the piety of the fon, the tendernefs of the hutband, the folitude of the parent, the kindnefe of the relation, the confiderration of the mafter, the warmth of the friend, the urbanity and hilarity of the companion, by his family, domeftics, and acquaintance, the more immediate objects of his affectionate attention, will never be forgotten. This fummary of the virtues of a most worthy, and, alas! regretted member of fociety, while it hardly does juftice to the deceased, and is almost injurious to the public by being fo imperfectly and inadequately prefented to its notice, is as a fmall tribute of high esteem, and grateful acknowledgment for many acts of friendfhip, confecrated to his memory by one, who, from an intimacy of more than forty years, may reasonably be fuppofed to have known him well. Sure he is, that truth is the matter of what is here afferted, though perfonal regard may have dictated the expreffions. Befides the humble prefumption of his eternal happiness, it is a great confolation to thofe to whom he was nearest and dearest, that his death was as placid, calm, and tranquil as his life had been.
