Provision for Enlistment. 1 Sec. 2. I PROVISION FOR ENLISTMENT. The Legislature may provide for the enlistment 2 into the active force of such other persons as may make appli 3 cation to be so enlisted. Organization and Maintenance of Militia. ORGANIZATION AND MAINTENANCE OF MILITIA. I Sec. 3. The militia shall be organized and divided into 2 such land and naval, and active and reserve forces, as the 3 Legislature may deem proper, provided however that there 4 shall be maintained at all times a force of not less than ten 5 thousand enlisted men, fully uniformed, armed, equipped, 6 disciplined and ready for active service. And it shall be the 7 duty of the Legislature at each session to make sufficient 8 appropriations for the maintenance thereof. Time of Election. TIME OF ELECTION. I Sec. 4. The Governor shall appoint the chiefs of the 2 several staff departments, his aides-de-camp and military secre3 tary all of whom shall hold office during his pleasure, their 4 commissions to expire with the term for which the Governor 5 shall have been elected; he shall also nominate, and with the 6 consent of the Senate appoint, all major-generals. |
